Pie after pie: Pie Face Shibuya

It was around 2013 when we Japanese started hearing the name of this company, Pie Face. This brand successfully got a huge attention in NY, and then Japanese media started covering (as usual...why don't you stop stalking Americans?)

Then after having heard they would open franchise stores in Japan, there had been no updates about it for a while. Instead, what I saw online one day was the financial struggle they were facing & news reporting the closure of their NY stores. I don't know how many Japanese were looking forward to their penetration into Japan at that point, but for me, whose passion for pie is enormous, it was such a disappointing news.

However, they finally arrived here in 2015 & soon became my favorite! Unlike most of other cafes in Shibuya, atmosphere inside is not so busy or bustling. (maybe it depends on the time you hit) 

Hopping in the store, you'll be faced with this wonderful showcase filled with nice, golden brown dudes. You can choose from these various options including both sweet & savory ones. 

This time I ordered limited menu, Salmon & Cheese with Cream stew,￥390. As you expect, they change this face pattern depending on the menu!

It was first time for me to eat their savory, but it was also damn good! Pie shell is flaky as usual, and stuffing inside is really flavorful without any overcooking. Contrary to its appearance, this could be stuffy... so don't be greedy, girls! 

I've previously eaten their Apple pie and Rum raisin butter, but both were awesome. Make sure this place is in your itinerary!
