Sushi: Nigi Nigi Ichi

Despite a huge global recognition that sushi has earned, I've never put a focus on it on this blog. The reason is very simple.

I was believing that too much info about sushi places written in English has already swirled around online & that feeling has never pushed me to do the same thing.

However, the story is a bit different if its quality & price are perfectly balanced.

Jokes at Riverside

Nigi Nigi Ichi is one of the small restaurants located in Tokyo's typical office district, Kayabacho. Its riverside location boosts an expectation for the taste.

What is especially good about this shop is that staff are super friendly giving lots of jokes all the time.

Reasonable Lunch Set

If you're the one who wants to try authentic Japanese sushi "in a casual setting", this is the place for you.

The 3 types of lunch only set ranges from ¥800 to ¥1500 (The more items, the higher price) & all come with a small salad, Miso soup.

Most items for each set are fixed, but some are subject to change depending on the availability of fish on the day.

Colored Rice

The shari (rice part of sushi) they offer looks a bit brown. This is coming from an unique vinegar they use.

Be ready for their joke that the cause of the color is due to their using old rice originally cooked 3 days ago.

Review

This review is written after I dined there twice, and I was fully satisfied both times. Isn't this look awesome?

As they're already finished properly with a sauce, no soy sauce dipping is required. Just carry it in your mouth!

Of course, you can find better sushi places than this one in Tokyo, but the price ranges inevitably go up. So keep in mind my focus this time is "Cost-effectiveness"

Considering this authenticity, I mean, non- revolving, face-to-face between customers & chefs, plus the freshness of fish, no complaints should be made in my sense.

Be Adventurous!

One thing that could be an adventure for you at this place is salmon roe hand-wrapped sushi, called Temaki, served at the end.

I know some are afraid of this looks, but don't be nervous! It doesn't hurt you. Some Japanese even say that its texture is in the same league as caviar!

Thanks for reading.
