Asakusabashi-1

Today's area, Asakusabashi is down-to-earth hood & where authentic old Tokyo life can be found, in contrast to the similarly named must-visit spot for tourists, Asakusa. 

Demographic 

Getting out of the JR Asakusabashi Sta, you'll see a dozen of shops tenanted in under-the-rail-track spaces.

Some clothing shops among them are obviously targeting at elderly ladies long time residents in the area.

Yes, this area is still relatively away from a huge wave of redevelopment rapidly going on across major parts of Tokyo. 

Enjoy Old Hood

Strolling down the streets here was felt like a treasure hunt even for me Japanese. 

What brought me such a feeling was probably the existence of a variety of small & privately owned shops.

Especially, specialty shops for handcrafters are scattered across the area. Even if you don't have passion for it, it could be interesting to see those thoroughly dedicated to such hobbies. 

Shrine to Check

Ichogaoka Hachiman Shrine is a quiet & peaceful spot despite being located quite close to the station. 

The blessing believed to be given to visitors here are good lack for business, healthy longevity & protection from troubles.

However, for the people like me, the fact that this shrine is a home to community cats is as attractive as blessing...
