Gallery Concept 21

What's your relationship with art? Are you interested in it? Do you go to a gallery in your hood on a regular basis? 

Though Japan's art market isn't as large as western ones, small & mid-sized gallery / studios are everywhere in Tokyo.

Gallery Concept 21, located in Omotesando, hot spot among hipsters & tourists, is definitely the place to visit during your wandering in Tokyo.

Exhibitions

On the day I made a visit, the exhibition going on was "Crazy! SANMU Exhibition", featuring incredibly dynamic calligraphy works. 

I was totally overwhelmed by these manly, dynamic artworks! In today's world where tech & gadgets are more ubiquitous than ever, how many of us Japanese would hand-writes Chinese characters this way?

As one of Japanese, who've learnt calligraphy in my childhood, this was the eye-opening moment to rethink about my own culture.

No Pressure

What this gallery offers isn't confined to a particular genre, but from Japanese style art to abstract & even ceramics. 

And the presence of Ms.Ohno, a very nice & friendly English speaking lady will make your visit more comfortable.

Ibano Exhibition 

The exhibition starting from Nov.16th (Thu) is Ibano's, Tokyo-based oil painter, currently I'm collaborating with.

Ibano, who has held exhibitions in not only Tokyo but France, has pursued the color-centered oil painting abstract works for years, with his unique approach.
