Aya Ito Exhibition: Sleeping Stone

Rain after rain...Tokyo has been hit by unseasonal rainy days recently. For me, who really hates walking with umbrella, that's the time to have difficulty in finding out a place to go.

But in the recent years, Shibuya Hikarie, fashion building directly connected to the Shibuya Terminal, has been my go-to on such a day.

Tomio Koyama Gallery

The entire 8th floor is divided into 7 or 8 blocks & each hosts a variety of events throughout the year.

But this was the first time for me to visit here to check a particular exhibition, which was Sleeping Stone by currently Dublin-based Japanese artist, Aya Ito.

Sense Of Color

Though I'm not an art enthusiast, what caught my attention before my visit was the artwork below.

From my perspective, this chaotic vibe & unconventional, almost weird coloring is totally different from us typical Japanese's one and probably Irelanders' as well.

So that feeling brought me there to explore her other collection in person.

Stepping into the space, this white & fluffy-looking guy welcomes you. I don't explain in detail, but this guy seems to be a key player on this exhibition.

And what I fell in love with was the yellow rabbit-like character below. Look at this emotionless face...

White walls of the space make her coloring more lively and vivid, strengthening the presence of these works.

If you haven't got any plan for this weekend or thinking about what to do on potentially another rainy weekend, this is the one to give a try.

Enjoy your umbrella-free enrichment of your heart!

Thanks for reading.
